Author Guidelines
Thank you for choosing to submit your manuscript to the Aquaponics Journal. To ensure a smooth and efficient review process, please carefully read and follow the guidelines provided below.
Article Types and Formats: We accept the following types of articles:
Research Articles: These full-length papers report novel findings and significant contributions to the field of aquaponics. They should follow a clear structure, including an abstract, introduction, methods, results, discussion, and conclusion. The maximum length, excluding references and supplementary material, is 5000 words.
Review Articles: These comprehensive and critical surveys focus on specific topics or themes within aquaponics. They should provide an overview of the current state of knowledge, identify gaps and challenges, and propose future research directions. The maximum length, excluding references and supplementary material, is 3000 words.
Short Communications: These brief reports highlight preliminary or urgent findings of interest to the readership. They should have a concise structure, including an abstract, introduction, methods, results, discussion, and conclusion. The maximum length, excluding references and supplementary material, is 3000 words.
Manuscript Format: Please adhere to the following formatting guidelines for your manuscript:
Use A4 paper size with 2.5 cm margins on all sides.
Utilize a 12-point Times New Roman font with double spacing.
Number all pages consecutively.
Include a title page with the article title, author names, author affiliations, corresponding author contact details, word count, number of figures and tables, and any acknowledgements or funding sources.
Provide an abstract of no more than 250 words that summarizes the main objectives, methods, results, and conclusions of your study.
Include 3 to 6 keywords that accurately describe your article.
Organize your article using headings and subheadings.
Use numbered sections for introduction, methods, results, discussion, and conclusion.
Utilize SI units throughout your manuscript.
Maintain consistent spelling (British or American English).
Cite references in the text using the author-date system (e.g., Smith et al., 2020).
Provide data availability statements for all data used in your study.
If applicable, submit any supplementary material as separate files.
Citation and Referencing System: Please use the APA style for citing references in text and in the reference list. Follow these examples:

Data Availability: All data used in your study must be made available in accordance with our data policy. Please provide a data availability statement at the end of your article that specifies where your data can be accessed or how it can be requested from you.
Supplementary Material: You may include supplementary material such as additional figures, tables, data sets, code, videos, etc. to support your main findings. Supplementary material will be published online alongside your article but will not be edited or formatted by us. Please provide each piece of supplementary material as a separate file with a clear label (e.g., S1_Figure.pdf, S2_Table.xlsx, S3_Data.csv, S4_Code.R). Additionally, include a list of supplementary material with captions at the end of your article.
Figures and Tables: Please submit figures and tables as separate files rather than embedding them in your manuscript text. Follow these guidelines when formatting your figures and tables:
Provide figures as high-resolution images in TIFF, JPEG, PNG, or EPS format.
Provide tables as editable text files in Word, Excel, or CSV format.
Number figures and tables consecutively according to their appearance in the text (e.g., Figure 1, Table 1).
Include a descriptive caption below each figure and above each table to explain their content and meaning.
Refer to figures and tables in the text using their respective numbers (e.g., see Figure 1, as shown in Table 1).
Use consistent fonts, colors, symbols, scales, and units for all figures and tables.
Avoid unnecessary decoration or embellishment of figures and tables.
Ensure that all figures and tables are clear, legible, and accurate.
Upload your figure and table files to our submission system along with your manuscript file.
Indicate the approximate location of each figure and table in your manuscript text using placeholders (e.g., [Insert Figure 1 here], [Insert Table 1 here]).
Obtain and acknowledge any necessary permissions for using copyrighted figures.
Format your figures and tables according to our author guidelines before publication if your manuscript is accepted.
Guideline for Table and Figure Submission: Please follow these guidelines when preparing and submitting your tables and figures to our journal.
Tables:
Use tables to display numerical or textual data in a structured and organized manner.
Tables should be editable text files in Word, Excel, or CSV format.
Number tables consecutively according to their appearance in the text (e.g., Table 1, Table 2).
Provide a descriptive caption above each table to explain its content and meaning.
Refer to tables in the text using their respective numbers (e.g., see Table 1, as shown in Table 2).
Ensure clear and informative column and row headings in your tables.
Maintain consistent fonts, alignment, spacing, and punctuation in your tables.
Avoid vertical lines or unnecessary horizontal lines in your tables.
Exclude color, shading, background, or borders in your tables.
Ensure that tables fit within the page margins of the journal.
Avoid duplicating information presented in the text or figures within your tables.
Ensure accuracy and completeness of your tables.
Figures:
Use figures to display graphical or visual information, such as graphs, charts, maps, diagrams, images, etc.
Figures should be high-resolution images in TIFF, JPEG, PNG, or EPS format.
Number figures consecutively according to their appearance in the text (e.g., Figure 1, Figure 2).
Provide a descriptive caption below each figure to explain its content and meaning.
Refer to figures in the text using their respective numbers (e.g., see Figure 1, as shown in Figure 2).
Ensure clear and informative labels, legends, titles, axes
Maintain consistent fonts, colors, symbols, scales, and formatting in your figures.
Avoid unnecessary decoration or embellishment of figures.
Ensure that all text and symbols in the figures are clear and legible.
Upload your figures as separate files during the submission process.
Use placeholders (e.g., [Insert Figure 1 here]) in your manuscript to indicate the approximate location of each figure.
Obtain necessary permissions for using copyrighted figures and acknowledge the source correctly in your manuscript.

All submissions must meet the following requirements.
The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
