Effects of Feed Additives (Premix) on Growth Performance of Oreochromis niloticus (L, 1758) in Concrete Pond, Sebeta Ethiopia
Contenu principal de l'article
Résumé
Lack of suitable formulated diets for O. niloticus production in Ethiopia has resulted in low development of aquaculture production. To address this problem, two isonitrogenous (29% protein) diets were formulated and evaluated for the growth performance of O. niloticus in unfertilized concrete ponds. One formulated diet contained vitamin and mineral premix while the other had no premix. There were significant differences in growth rates and feed conversion ratios between the two formulated diets. Fish which fed on feed with premix grew faster (p < 0.05) than the fish which fed on feed with no premix. The reason for the better growth performance of fish which fed on feed with premix can be explained by better metabolic activities, better health and a balanced diet as compared to the fish which fed on feed with no premix.
