Evaluation of Buffer zone and invasive species management interventions in tropical lakes: The case of Ethiopia
Contenuto principale dell'articolo
Abstract
This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of buffer zone and invasive species management interventions in tropical lakes, focusing on the case of Ethiopia. A comprehensive search of peer-reviewed articles was conducted, and 15 studies met the inclusion criteria. Results showed that buffer zone and invasive species management interventions have a positive impact on the ecological condition of tropical lakes in Ethiopia. The overall effect size for buffer zone management interventions was 0.92 (95% CI: 0.73-1.12), while the overall effect size for invasive species management interventions was 1.12 (95% CI: 0.89-1.35). The study suggests that the implementation of buffer zone and invasive species management interventions can help to restore and maintain the ecological integrity of tropical lakes in Ethiopia. Further research is needed to explore the long-term effects of these interventions and their applicability in other tropical lake ecosystems.
